Experience

Philip (Jeff) Terry has been practicing law in the greater Bay Area since his admission to the California State Bar in 1990.  He is also admitted in the United States District Courts for the Northern and Central Districts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Tax Court.
 
Mr. Terry has extensive trial and litigation experience in State and Federal Courts.  He has successfully resolved complex litigation matters through jury trial, bench trial, arbitration, mediation and the appellate process.  His wide range of business litigation experience includes commercial and banking matters, real estate disputes, construction defect and contract claims, trademark and other intellectual property issues, business torts including trade secret and unfair competition claims, premise liability and insurance disputes, employment discrimination claims, and tax disputes.  Wine industry related matters have included defective component products and wine spoilage issues, joint venture, partnership and employment disputes, grape purchase agreements, and vineyard management contract and negligence claims.  
 
Mr. Terry’s litigation practice is enhanced by substantial business and transactional experience.  He has counseled clients about, and successfully negotiated on their behalf, a broad spectrum of commercial transactions, business formation and partnership agreements as well as tax disputes. 
 
Prior to joining CMPR in 2002, Mr. Terry had his own offices in San Francisco and Petaluma.  Mr. Terry is proficient in Spanish and French.
