Experience
Doug Laurice , a native of Palo Alto, California, obtained his B.S. degree at
Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, graduating with Highest Distinction
in 1968, and his J.D. degree from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of
California, Berkeley. While at Boalt Hall, he was an editor of the Law
Review and a member of Order of the Coif. Following admission to the
California Bar, Doug developed his estate planning expertise with Thelen, Marrin,
Johnson & Bridges, a large San Francisco firm. In 1979, he joined the Palo
Alto law firm of Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati as head of its Estate
Planning Group and was made a partner in 1980. In 1985, Doug organized
WSG&R’s Employee Benefits and Compensation Group, providing support in merger,
public stock offering, financing and other large business transactions.
During his tenure, WSGR grew from 21 to over 700 lawyers. In 2001, Doug
resigned from WSG&R and moved to Sonoma County where for several years he
continued to practice law and consult part-time while also operating a small
real estate brokerage (licensed real estate broker since 1997). Since
becoming affiliated with Carle Mackie Power & Ross, Doug has emphasized the
estate planning and wealth transfer aspects of his practice. Over his career,
Doug has written and lectured extensively on both estate planning and employee
benefits issues.
